Encore

Are you considering what comes next?

Many successful, senior-level professionals eventually find themselves at an inflection point…a time in their life and career where the core challenges and motivators that once stimulated their successes evolve.  These people have accomplished what they originally sought out to accomplish personally and professionally and now are looking for something else…that “next thing.” 
 
These professionals are likely past their mid-life years, often in their 50’s or early 60’s, having raised children and are now financially secure; but they are not ready to settle into an “early retirement” or a life after work.  We say that these professionals are ready for the “Encore Phase” of their career.  They have successfully delivered the main concert of their professional ambitions, and just like a great band who delivers an amazing performance of their best hits, they are not yet ready to quit playing.  In fact, they may be saving the best version of themselves for the “encore set.”
 
Encore is a world-class development program designed for successful professionals who are asking that “what’s next” question.  Delivered in breath-taking locations, with expert facilitators, Encore has been designed as an intimate, year-long, small group (8-10 people) development experience for people eager to define this next phase of their career.  Encore is informed by the latest research on adult development, and especially on the elements that create sustainable well-being for active, high-achieving professionals in the later stages of their career.
 
The Encore Program is grounded in the three fundamental human development domains that are explored, clarified, and developed throughout the Encore journey.  We refer to these domains as:
 
  • The Intra-Personal Domain…the Self…the part of our existence that is inner, and accessible to be self-managed.  This domain includes our identity, our personality, our values, our habits and patterns, our mindset, our ego, and our spiritual beliefs.
 
  • The Inter-Personal Domain…the Relational…the part of our existence that is outer; expressed to others and experienced by others.  This domain includes our relationships, our reputation, our impact on others and their impact on us; our networks, our “places” and how we interact with the systems around us.
 
  • The Im-Personal Domain…the Material…the “things” that we’ve done, accomplished, and built in this life; our jobs and career; our possessions; our degrees, credentials, titles; our visible legacy.
 
The Encore participant cohort will journey together as a close-knit group exploring the key components that are necessary for ensuring a successful Encore Phase of career and life.  We will ask deep and important questions and challenge your thinking about your purpose, your sense of self, your relationships, and your continued contributions to your work and community.  As we journey together, you will be asked to serve as a coach and thought partner to your fellow Encore peers, and they will return that gift to you.  You will be asked to dig deeply, to be vulnerable, and to challenge some of the assumptions that have brought you to this point in life so that you can discover the new and refreshed insights available to you.
 
The outcome: Encore is designed to help you create your Encore. To define what the next stage of your life will look like and then give you a plan to initiate it.
 

Encore Program Design & Flow:
 
Encore is led by senior executive coaches and faculty who will serve as advisors and coaches for the Encore participants.  Coaches will offer 1:1 support throughout and facilitate the Encore sessions.
 
Module 1, Preparing Encore… (Month 1)
  • In-Person, 3-day workshop, in residence (location - Asheville, NC)
  • Introduction to the Encore experience, participants, and the core concepts & frameworks
  • Participants will explore their histories, core drivers, and motivators.  They will be introduced to the Encore development framework, the factors that determine Encore success, and share their ambitions for what they want to accomplish in the program.​
Session 2, (Month 2), Virtual, Encore Learning Groups
Session 3, (Month 2) Virtual, Encore Learning Groups
Session 4, (Month 3) Virtual, Encore Learning Groups
Intersession Coaching, 1:1 executive coaching with Encore Coach
Sessions 2-4 will focus on shaping and implementing Module 1 concepts for each participant.

Module 2, Developing Encore… (Month 4)
  • In-Person, 3-day workshop, in residence (location – Colorado Springs, CO)
  • Building momentum now, participants will have identified the Encore Domain shifts that are needed to be successful in the Encore Phase of their career.
  • Participants will share emerging insights and begin shaping and personalizing their Encore architecture and creating their Encore Development Plans​
Session 6, (Month 5) Virtual, Encore Learning Groups
Session 7, (Month 5) Virtual, Encore Learning Groups
Session 8, (Month 6) Virtual, Encore Learning Groups
Intersession Coaching, 1:1 executive coaching with Encore Coach
Sessions 6-8 will focus on incorporating and actualizing the concepts from Module 2

Module 3, Actualizing Encore… (month 7)
  • In-Person, 3-day workshop, in residence (location – Sedona, Arizona)
  • Participants will share insights and the results of the Encore Experiments.  They will present their Encore Strategy and Action Plan and begin their Encore Phase in earnest by operationalizing the objectives and key contributions that they are targeting for their future
 
Session 10, (Month 8) Virtual, Encore Learning Groups
Session 11, (Month 9) Virtual, Encore Learning Groups
Intersession Coaching, 1:1 executive coaching with Encore Coach
Session 12,(Month 10) Final Encore Session and Graduation
