Professional Coaching
Coaching is uniquely suited for the school setting as educators model lifelong learning for their students and communities. Coaching focuses on partnering with educators to identify tools for leveraging strengths while stretching to meet the demands of a changing workplace. Educational settings today require that teachers and leaders are flexible and adaptable as they often have to fulfill more than one role. Coaching is especially important for new faculty or administrative leaders in new roles. For established professionals, coaching is a way to evolve their strategic mindset and provide ongoing feedback on their impact as team members or leaders within the organization.
Coaching for Senior Leaders
Coaching for educational leaders can help these professionals more accurately assess their leadership effectiveness, identify developmental goals, and prioritize their leadership agenda. School leaders find themselves responsible for visioning and alignment of teams. Pilgrimage coaches are skilled at school-based needs assessments and facilitating growth. Senior leaders in education include Heads of School, Provost, Division Directors, and other members of leadership teams.
Coaching for Managing Leaders
Skilled managing leaders understand that leadership is more about influence than title. Managing leaders may be supervising direct reports or may have leadership through indirect reporting relationships. Managing leaders experience the unique challenges of being in the middle as they report to senior leaders and lead faculty, parents, and students. Managing leaders in schools often wear more than one hat which presents unique challenges. Pilgrimage coaches are passionate about helping those in the middle leverage their strengths in order to optimize institutional success. Managing leaders may include Deans, Assistant Division Directors, Counselors, and Department Chairs.
Coaching for Emerging Leaders and Faculty Leaders
Faculty are often hungry to establish themselves as leaders but perceive they have limited opportunities. The unique one-to-one nature of coaching helps individuals identify their personal growth potential and begin to demonstrate leadership even when they may not have a "leader" label. Coaching is an excellent opportunity for classroom teachers to engage in professional development beyond their subject matter expertise. Coaching explores leadership competencies inherent in interacting with colleagues and being a part of the educational community.
